Luke Mannion

b. Derby, United Kingdom 1990
Australia since 2017

"My work explores domesticity in a queer household - the quiet, everyday moments that define intimacy and home. Using a palette of bright colours that blur the lines between the traditionally masculine and the feminine, I challenge rigid definitions and celebrate a space that is both and neither. Through colour, texture, and form, I aim to capture the innate beauty of ordinary life and the complex nature of identity."

Having experience with clay, print, and acrylics, Luke is currently drawn to working with oil paints. He likes to play with colour, line, and texture to create a vignette into the quiet moments of domestic life with warmth and nuance.

Luke's artwork explores the simple domesticity of a queer household, focusing on everyday moments that define intimacy and home. Through a palette of bright colours that blend traditionally masculine and feminine tones, his work exists in a space that is both and neither. By embracing fluidity in colour, texture, and form, he captures the beauty of ordinary life and the nuances of identity.
